Some search for their purpose for years while others know from the very beginning what they were put on the planet to do.  With one listen, it’s apparent that 21 yr old Nyasia has been called to minister in song.  Singing since the age of three, she’s been lifting her voice to the Lord on stages nationwide, leaving believers inspired and touched.  The amazing musical talents of this blessed psalmist have netted her a number of accolades including three consecutive Stellar Award Nominations from 2013 - 2015.  What’s even more amazing is that she’s still in her teens.  Her latest critically-acclaimed CD on Inspired Dreams Entertainment, "Shooting Star", is filled with moving contemporary Gospel music and features the uplifting single and brand new music video, “Have You Ever”.  Since Nyasia’s entrance into music ministry, she’s been setting the Gospel music industry on its ear with her fresh approach, unforgettable songs and sincere heart for God.  Her musical beginnings took place in New Jersey.  Raised in the church, she made her “debut” singing the children’s classic, “Jesus Loves Me”.  Her family moved to Richmond, VA, when she was five years old.  As she grew up, her love for God and for music grew as well.  At the tender age of nine, she made the decision to be baptized.  “Even though I was so young at the time, I had a thirst and a hunger for God,” Nyasia recounts.  “I wanted to learn more about God.  I had a Bible for teens and I remember asking my parents a lot of questions about the Lord.  That’s also when I decided that I wanted to bring people into the Kingdom and I wanted God to use my voice to do it.”  Her parents, supportive from the very beginning, saw the talent in their child and submitted Nyasia to area talent shows.  She gained notoriety and was known as a stunning vocalist.  Believing she had a future in the music industry, Nyasia stepped into the studio when she was 12.  Her first single, “Smile”, opened many doors for her.  The single was followed by the CD release of Take Off, which resulted in a 2013 Stellar Award Nomination for Children’s Project of the Year.  The album spawned two other singles, “Dream Maker” and “I Love the Lord”.  Nyasia’s Shooting Star EP was a prelude to her full sophomore release which included contemporary songs like the title tune, “Shooting Star” and “Anything”.  The Shooting Star EP and subsequent Shooting Star CD were both nominated for 2014 and 2015 Stellar Award Nominations for Children’s Project of the Year and Youth Project of the Year, respectively.  Her most recent single from Shooting Star is the inspirational cut, “Have You Ever”.  The heart-moving track, penned by Arthenius Jackson, touches Nyasia’s soul each time she sings it.  “When I first heard the song, I knew I had to record it,” says the songstress. “Shortly before I heard it, my aunt had passed away; the lyrics really spoke to me.  The song comforted me and I knew it would do the same for others.  ‘Have You Ever’ reminds people that no matter what they’re going through, God is there.  He is present in any and every circumstance in life,” she shares.  In early 2015, Nyasia filmed her first music video for the song.  Produced and directed by DJ “MLiK” Moore, the video was shot in Richmond.  It’s just the latest landmark in a career that’s destined for much more.  Nyasia’s been blessed to share the stage with countless household names including Dr. Bobby Jones, Yolanda Adams, Erica Campbell, Fred Hammond, Kierra Sheard, Donnie McClurkin, Tye Tribett, Earnest Pugh, William McDowell, Deitrick Haddon, Israel Houghton & New Breed, Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago, Bishop TD Jakes, Michelle Williams, Dorothy Norwood, Tasha Cobbs, James Fortune & FIYA, Anthony Brown & Group Therapy and many others.  She’s been seen on CBS’ Virginia This Morning, Radio One’s Praise Richmond 104.7’s Transformation Expo, Radio One’s Praise Philly’s 103.9 Inspiration & Music Conference, Radio One’s 92.1 Back to School Bash, the 20th Black Arts Festival, WLOU St. Jude’s Concert, and Gospel Night at the Apollo.  In addition to her Stellar Award Nominations, she’s been blessed with a 2013 Newsome Award for Teen Artist of the Year and 2013 and 2014 DMV Christian Music Awards for Children’s Talent. Now, Nyasia is set to currently releasing her first R&B album entitled "Moment". No matter what the venue or the stage, Nyasia allows God to use her gift to lift Him up. And when she’s not on the road touring, she gets her spiritual nourishment from her home church, St. Paul’s Baptist Church, where Lance Watson is the Senior Pastor.  Gifted beyond her years, Nyasia’s love for God is evident in her music, as she inspires the young and the young at heart when she sings God’s praises no matter what genre!
